Healing, Wholeness, and Growth

Welcome to Integral Psych New York. Psych is short for both psychology and psychotherapy, where psychology includes growth and development, as well as healing from psychological pain.

The psychological work we do together has three goals: healing, wholeness, and growth: healing from earlier wounds, wholeness in the sense of yourself, and growth as personal evolution through life.  We make a fundamental assumption that we are happiest in general when all three components are progressing.

What is Integral?

Integral is the name of a theory and a perspective, which organizes all the possible ways we could know anything about a person.  Integral is a theory, developed by evolutionary/developmental philosopher and prolific author, Ken Wilber. An Integral perspective is a way of holding what we know and what we are, a "feeling of being," with an increasing sense of aliveness.

When shadows from the past are reworked and re-integrated, when self-esteem is moderate and stable, the next task, self-actualization, comes more easily. In this developmental stage, you feel the need to make your life as meaningful as possible, for yourself and for others.

As you progress in that domain, the next stage to emerge is what we call Integral.  It is the need to integrate your mind and body, to identify with things larger than yourself and also take good care of yourself. The world of "doing" evolves to the world of "doing and also being."   You are realistic and rational and also more intuitive.  You revisit or refine your spirituality.

You are most welcome to read the other pages on this site, to learn more details about Integral psychotherapy and growth work.
