Integral Psychotherapy

.

Therapy: to heal suffering; restore to previous function; build new functions; repair or re-heal old wounds; enable the system to self-repair; resolve conflicts.

Integral: To organize different perspectives on a subject into a larger view which is deeper and broader, that is, coming from increased wisdom.

Individual

The goal of psychotherapy is to heal distress or pain, and to reestablish a wholeness and balance, to fill in any gaps or heal old wounds, in short, restoring wholeness of the self.

Although the Integral view is a big one, we take a practical view, because sometimes we can find one thing to work on that positively affects the rest.  As a wild example, if everyone's telling you one thing and making you feel crazy and bad about yourself, I might hand you some research that shows you to be right, and off you go into the circus of life with calm and humor.

More commonly, there are old wounds affecting the present.  What happened is that the pain was likely too much to bear, and you hid it away from your awareness, only it's affecting you indirectly, perhaps causing a symptom or hurting your relationships.

Because the old wounds were too big, we need to give you a safe place, where that pain is made smaller, released, understood, and made more handle-able.
